The Maroon Ones are set to battle Switzerland in their opening contest.

The Qatar national football team are all set for an intense 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to take place in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

This will be the second time that the Maroon Ones will be locking horns on the grandest stage of them all. They secured a direct spot as hosts for the 2022 edition and were knocked out in the group stage after losing all three of their games.

For the FIFA World Cup 2026, the Julen Lopetegui-led side went through a standard qualification process and secured a direct spot through the AFC qualifiers. In the expanded tournament, there are now going to be a total of 48 teams and it will be interesting to see their strategies to survive till the end.

The Qatar national football team are placed in Group B along with the likes of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland and one of the co-hosts, Canada. It is not going to be an easy journey for them. They have announced the final list of players and will be gearing up to deliver on the world stage.
