Portugal would still qualify automatically if Congo DR fail to beat Uzbekistan. If Congo DR defeat Uzbekistan, they would move onto four points and qualification positions would then be decided by FIFA tiebreakers, including goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head criteria where applicable.
Even in the event of dropping to third place, Portugal would remain in a strong position to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams given their current four-point tally and superior goal difference.
