Egypt will clash against Iran on June 27 IST.

Group G will be the final round for the two team spots that will gain automatic qualification to the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026. In the other game of the group, Egypt play Iran with Belgium playing New Zealand.

Egypt sit on top of Group G with two points from two games after beating New Zealand and a draw Belgium. With two points from the first two matches against New Zealand and Belgium, Iran are second on the table.

Belgium and New Zealand are tied for two points, while the other two teams are all mathematically level with one point on the table now, ahead of when they will face each other on the final play of the season. With Belgium equal at two points and New Zealand at one, all four teams are mathematically in contention for the remainder of the season.

What happens if Egypt beat Iran?

A victory would move Egypt onto seven points and guarantee top spot in Group G regardless of the result between Belgium and New Zealand.

Iran would remain on two points and would need Belgium to lose to New Zealand to have any chance of advancing as one of the best third-placed teams.

What happens if Egypt draw with Iran?

A draw would take Egypt to five points and guarantee qualification for the Round of 32.

Egypt would also finish as Group G winners if Belgium fail to beat New Zealand. If Belgium win, Egypt would still qualify automatically, and first place would be determined by goal difference, goals scored and the other FIFA tiebreakers if required.

Iran would move onto three points and would qualify automatically only if Belgium fail to beat New Zealand. If Belgium win, Iran would finish third and would have to rely on the best third-placed rankings.

What happens if Egypt lose to Iran?

A defeat would leave Egypt on four points while Iran would move onto five and secure qualification for the knockout stages.

Egypt would still qualify automatically if Belgium fail to beat New Zealand, as they would finish in the top two of Group G.

If Belgium defeat New Zealand, Egypt and Belgium would finish level on four points and the second qualification spot would be decided by FIFA tiebreakers, including goal difference and goals scored.

Even if Egypt finish third in the group, four points would leave them in a strong position to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams in the expanded 48-team tournament format.
