What happens if England beat Panama?

A victory would move England to seven points and guarantee qualification for the Round of 32 as Group L winners irrespective of the result between Ghana and Croatia.

England would therefore avoid any dependence on goal difference or other tiebreakers and would progress directly as the top-ranked side in the group.

What happens if England draw against Panama?

A draw would take The Three Lions to five points and secure qualification for the knockout stages.

If Ghana fail to beat Croatia, England would finish top of Group L. However, if Croatia defeat Ghana, England and Croatia could finish on five points, with first and second place then decided by FIFA tiebreakers including goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head record if necessary.

What happens if England lose to Panama?

A defeat would leave England on four points heading into the final standings. If Ghana avoid defeat against Croatia, England would still advance to the Round of 32 either as group runners-up or as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.

If Croatia defeat Ghana, England, Ghana and Croatia could all finish level on four points, meaning qualification positions would be determined through FIFA’s tiebreak criteria.

Regardless of the outcome, England cannot finish below third place in Group L as Panama are unable to catch them in the standings.
