Top six quickest players to reach 75 Premier League goals
Number one did it in almost as many games.
The English Premier League is widely regarded as the most difficult football league in the world. The back-and-forth action makes it very difficult for players to spend more time on the ball and implement themselves in the game.
Scoring goals in the EPL is a very difficult task in itself, but throughout its rich history, the top flight of English football has seen some amazing attacking talent. Some took time to adjust themselves to the playstyle and intensity of the league, but others just started scoring goals like it was second nature to them.
When you see the all-time top scorer of the Premier League and compare it to the leading scorers of the other big European leagues, you will be surprised by the difference in numbers. It perfectly reflects the difficulty players face in finding the back of the net in England.
Today, we will find the six fastest players to reach 75 Premier League goals. The list will feature some of the greatest attacking players of all time, and it will be interesting to see who is sitting on the top spot.
6. Sergio Aguero (118 matches)
The Argentine is considered to be the greatest striker to ever play in the Premier League by some. His consistency and performances in big games made him an absolute legend of the league. Aguero holds many Premier League records.
He will always be considered one of the best strikers world football has seen in the 21st century. He achieved the milestone of scoring 75 EPL goals in 118 matches. He shared his minutes at the striker position of Manchester City with Edin Dzeko during his Initial days in the club and that can be considered a big reason behind him coming sixth in today’s ranking.
5. Mohamed Salah (117 matches)
The Egyptian winger is one of the most unexpected success stories of the Premier League in this century. When Liverpool signed him from AS Roma in 2017, expectations were low because of his failed stint at Chelsea. However, Jurgen Klopp transformed him into a goal-scoring machine.
After the historic first season, Mohamed Salah has been incredibly consistent. He will go down as arguably the greatest Liverpool player of all time and no one saw that coming even just a few years ago.
4. Ruud van Nistelrooy (116 matches)
The former Dutch international has played for many massive clubs like PSV and Real Madrid. However, his time at Old Trafford is a major highlight of his highly successful career. He spent five years in the Premier League and scored 95 goals.
It took him 116 matches to hit the milestone of 75 goals and that places him fourth on our list. Ruud van Nistelrooy will always be considered a Premier League legend. Even though he left before United won the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League title, he still won many trophies during his stint with the Red Devils.
3. Harry Kane (115 matches)
The English captain was on course to shatter nearly every single Premier League record until he joined Bayern Munich last year. Despite not winning anything with Tottenham Hotspur, his numbers were always great in the league. Harry Kane won multiple Golden Boots for being the top scorer.
The Englishman took fewer games than the likes of Sergio Aguero, Mohamed Salah, and Ruud van Nistelrooy to score 75 goals in the Premier League. His goal/games ratio is one of the best in the entire history of the league.
2. Alan Shearer (93 matches)
At number two we have the current leading goalscorer of England’s first division, Alan Shearer. The Newcastle United legend had established himself among the most prolific goalscorers of all time because of his incredible movement and positioning in the opposition box. He had a natural goal-scoring instinct which helped him in getting his name on the scoresheet consistently.
It took him only 93 games to score his first 75 Premier League goals which is 22 games less than the third-placed Harry Kane.
1. Erling Haaland (77 matches)
Erling Haaland is one of the best goalscorers in world football right now. When he signed with the Cityzens in 2022, fans were excited to see how he would perform in Pep Guardiola’s system. The Norwegian impressed in the Bundesliga but what he did in the Premier League was just unheard of.
He scored 36 goals in the league in his very first season and followed that up with 27 goals in his second. He won back-to-back Golden Boots for being the top scorer of the league. He has started this season in a terrifying form as well.
The player has already found the back of the net 12 times in 11 appearances. He shattered the record of scoring 75 Premier League goals in the least number of matches by 16 games as he did it in only 77 appearances.
