Selecao are currently fourth in the World Cup qualifiers group.
Ahead of Brazil’s World Cup qualifying match against bitter rivals Argentina, Barcelona star Raphinha has sent out a hostile message.
Tonight, the South American rivals will square off in a pivotal 2026 World Cup qualification match. Raphinha and Vinicius Junior scored goals in Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Copa America 2024 runners-up Colombia last week, which sets them up for this matchup. The Barcelona player has issued a rallying cry to inspire his teammates ahead of the match in Buenos Aires.
When Raphinha and Brazil veteran Romario were chatting, the Selecao star initially inquired:
“We are going to play against Argentina, our biggest rival. Now, thank God, without Messi, are we going to beat them?” In response, Raphinha said: “We will beat them, no doubt. On and off the pitch, if we have to.”
Raphina has been in terrific form, the forward scored a penalty against Colombia before setting up Vinicius Jr for the second goal. Meanwhile, Argentina’s win against Uruguay further strengthened their place at the top of the World Cup qualifying table as they are seven points clear of fourth place Brazil.
Romario again asked: “Are you going to try to score a goal against Argentina?” The Barca winger replied: “Yes, with everything.” The duo then ended the conversation with Romario asking, “F*ck them?” Then Raphinha responded: “F*ck them.”
Due to a muscle injury, Messi will not be playing for the defending world champions in their most recent round of World Cup qualifying. Argentina defeated Uruguay 1-0 in their most recent qualifying match thanks to a goal from Thiago Almada, even though their captain was not there.
Now two South American giants with a rich history of winning the World Cup will take on each other with a point to prove. Lionel Scaloni’s side will come into this game with great confidence, while Selecao who were enduring a poor spell earned a well-deserved win against Colombia and will hope to defeat the reigning World Champions.
