The Brazilian is in talks with Los Blancos to extend his contract.

Real Madrid could plot a move for Manchester City ace Erling Haaland in a spectacular deal if Vinicius Jr departs for Saudi Arabia in 2025.

The Saudi Pro League is still interested in acquiring their Brazilian superstar, therefore, Los Blancos are determined to prepare a backup plan in case of his transfer.

In order to avoid losing the Brazilian for free, Los Blancos are eager to sign Vinicius to a new contract in the upcoming months. His current contract with Madrid expires in 2027.

The primary current obstacle seems to be Vinicius’s demand for a pay increase in order to surpass teammates Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham as the team’s highest earner. This could violate the rigid wage structure, which club president Florentino Perez opposes.

His representatives are said to have met with intermediaries in September and again in December before meeting Vinicius and his group in person in Prague in February. This communication has maintained the links to Saudi Arabia.

A €1 billion contract offer and a possible transfer price of more than €300 million are among the staggering figures presented by the Saudi clubs.

Vinicius appears to be more interested in remaining in Madrid despite the enormous sums on the table. This is even after Perez is also preparing to sell him.

Florian Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Sports Germany, claims that if Vinicius decides to move to the Middle East, Real Madrid will target Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland committed to the Etihad Stadium until 2034 when he signed a new contract deal with Manchester City at the beginning of 2025.

It will be very difficult to get Haaland to leave Manchester because his new contract doesn’t have a release clause. The Premier League powerhouses would demand at least €150–200 million before considering a sale to a big European rival.
