Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe on verge of buying French club Caen

Mbappe is set to buy a majority stake in the club.
Kylian Mbappe, one of the best players in Europe, is set to become a majority shareholder of the French club Caen, which plays in the second division. Once the deal is confirmed, it will make the former Paris Saint-Germain forward one of the youngest owners of a club.
As per reports, the talks between the club and Mbappe’s personnel have been going on for weeks. Now the deal could be struck at any moment.
Kylian Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid this summer, is investing $21.6 million to acquire 80% of the club’s shares. He will also pay off a portion of the club’s debt. This will take the club out of financial struggles and provide them with new resources.
Once the deal is done, Mbappe will replace the American investment fund Oaktree, which purchased 80% of the club’s shares in 2020. Under them, the club failed to secure any major titles. Hopefully, a change in ownership will bring new aspects and rules that will help the club secure promotion to Ligue 1.
Mbappe will secure the majority of the stocks, while the rest will be brought by Pierre-Antoine Capton, who is the current chairman of the club’s supervisory board.
It is understood that Mbappe and his family have a great relationship with the club. The former AS Monaco star came close to joining them in 2012, which never transpired due to the French law prohibiting signing such young players.
However, subsequently, Mbappe wanted to sign for the club. But they were demoted to the second division, which prompted the player to choose Monaco. At Rouges et blancs, he cemented himself as one of the most talented young players in Europe.
PSG broke the bank and signed Mbappe in 2017. There he played until the 2023–24 season before confirming that he wouldn’t continue and announcing he would join his favourite childhood club Real Madrid.
Now that Mbappe is 25 years old, he will be hoping to win as many trophies as possible with the Spanish club and etch his name in the history books of Real Madrid.
