Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos out for 6-8 weeks after ankle injury
Ceballos joins Jude Bellingham on Los Blancos’s injury list.
Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has picked up an ankle injury. He is set to remain out for 6-8 weeks. The 28-year-old has appeared in only two games this season. Now will be out for a good period of time.
The player suffered an ankle injury in Madrid’s 2-0 win over Las Palmas. The game saw a brace from Kylian Mbappe. This was Madrid’s second win in four games this season. Their start has been rather slow this campaign.
Ceballos has operated mostly as a back-up player for Los Blancos given the club’s depth in midfield. He doesn’t get enough playing minutes on the pitch.
Despite being down in the pecking order, Ceballos has remained a key part of Madrid every season. He has stepped up to the occasion whenever called upon.
He is another midfielder who suffered an injury after Real Madrid’s star Jude Bellingham also picked a injury. Bellingham’s return is expected to be after the end of the international break.
Real Madrid will go into the international break with a win and will hope to return with confidence. They haven’t started the new season as they hoped for despite having a star-studded squad that boasts Vinicius, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo up front.
However, all three individuals of the trio have failed to form a smooth partnership. It has seen the club fail to churn out goals this season and win only twice in four games.
Meanwhile, their rival Barcelona are top of the LaLiga table with four points. New manager Hansi Flick has instantly stamped his influence on the club.
Ceballos was open to leaving the club last season after Real Betis made an offer. But the deal couldn’t transpire as Real demanded €20 million for the player.
The 28-year-old only saw 846 minutes of action in the previous campaign. He won’t play frequently this time around as well. However, he surely will be used as a reserve player in case of an injury or weariness among other players.
If the injuries continue to mount then Ceballos will be a crucial player for this season and it could provide more opportunities for him in midfield.
