Real Madrid seriously considering €100m bid for Man City star Rodri: Report

Real Madrid are ready to splash the cash to bring the Manchester City star Rodri to the Bernabeu. Los Blancos have renewed their interest in the Spanish midfielder as they hope to add a controller in the middle of the pitch.
According to Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, Madrid’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, has requested that the club bring a new midfielder this summer window, and now the team is seriously considering putting a €100 million (£86.6m) bid for the 29-year-old.

The report has further mentioned that Madrid believes ‘none of them (midfielders) are worth (€100m) it’ except Rodri, as they feel the former Atletico Madrid player is worth every penny. However, prising him away from City will he challenging and the Premier League side are unlikely to entertain any offer.
However, the 29-year-old once hinted that he could be open to a move after saying, ‘when a team like Madrid is calling you, you need to pay attention.’ But it remains to be seen if the club is set to test the waters in the summer window.
Ironically, some fans might not be happy with the acquisition of the midfielder after he defeated the club’s star Vinicius Jr in the Ballon d’Or race last year.

Rodri, who returned to action recently after a lengthy time off due to an ACL injury last season, will hope to recover his form as he will once again be crucial in the club’s bid to win the Premier League next season.
His absence was significantly felt in the previous campaign, after the club finished the term in third position and failed to win any silverware, ending the campaign on a bad note.
Meanwhile, Madrid’s admiration of Rodri is clear as they need a player in the middle of the pitch who can control the flow of the match. With injury to Jude Bellingham and Luka Modric leaving the club, Rodri will be an ideal player to operate at the heart of the club’s midfield.
