Real Madrid vs Atalanta: Live streaming, TV channel, kick-off time & where to watch UEFA Super Cup final
Kylian Mbappé could end up winning a trophy on his debut.
A big day for Real Madrid fans. Not only because superstar Kylian Mbappe could be making his debut but also for the fact that they can win their sixth UEFA Super Cup. Los Blancos found a berth to compete for the Super Cup after claiming the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League title last season. They were in action against German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund did their bit in the final at Wembley. They made many scoring chances. However, if you fail to finish against Madrid, things can turn for the worse later in the game.
That is exactly what happened in the second half. Carlo Ancelotti’s men went from 0-0 to 2-0 in their favour in the space of not even 10 minutes. Dani Carvajal opened the scoring in the 74′ minute while Vinicius Junior’s 83′ minute goal sent Madrid fans into a frenzy.
Why wouldn’t they? After all, it led to Real Madrid winning a record 15th Champions League title. More side quest success followed after that. Mbappe who had been flirting with a move to Santiago Bernabéu, which almost seemed like ages, finally arrived. Although we no longer will see guys like Toni Kroos and Nacho, Mbappe is a great addition.
In the pre-season, Real Madrid have had a rather poor showing. They suffered defeats against AC Milan and Barcelona. However, a win against Chelsea last time out should put things back on track before the Super Cup final.
Atalanta, on the other hand, had a ridiculous journey in the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League. After overcoming Portuguese giants Sporting CP in the round of 16, they were faced with a mighty task up ahead. The quarter-final saw them face Liverpool.
The Reds who were the competition favourites were put to shame in their own backyard in the first leg. The Italians won 3-0 at Anfield, giving Gian Piero Gasperini’s men a great boost for the second leg. Although they suffered a 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture, Atalanta were through to the semi-finals.
After edging Marseille 4-1 in the semi-final, the final represented a much bigger battle than Liverpool. They had to find a way to win against an unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen side. The final, which was expected to be in favour of the German side or at least a competitive battle, was almost single-handedly won by Ademola Lookman. Lookman netted a hattrick to give his side a 3-0 win.
