Robert Lewandowski becomes first player to reach 40-goal mark for club & country this season

The Polish striker is currently the top scorer in LaLiga.
At Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski is having a fantastic individual season right now. The Polish forward, who is 36 years old, continued to score goals in Barcelona’s most recent victory over Girona.
Lewandowski, who has been on fire lately, became the first player from the top-five leagues to achieve 40 goals for club and country in 2024–25 season.
Although Barcelona could have easily scored more goals than the four they did, Hansi Flick won’t be unhappy with the outcome against Girona (4-1).
Barca now lead Real Madrid by three points at the top of LaLiga after Lewandowski’s two goals in the second half sealed the three points. Lewandowski’s strong 2024–25 campaign may have gone unnoticed from an individual perspective.
Recently, Barcelona’s talismanic attacker hasn’t always received the recognition he deserves because Raphinha has been defying expectations, and Lamine Yamal is still shining.
But as of this writing, the 36-year-old is three goals ahead of Kylian Mbappe, putting him in the lead in the competition for the Pichichi award.
In actuality, we’ve all likely grown so used to Lewandowski’s brilliance over the years that we occasionally take it for granted.
He might have had a poor season last term, but this campaign, Lewandowski has once again shown his goal-scoring attributes and has set new records.
The renowned attacker doesn’t want to slow down anytime soon, as he is currently three goals away from reaching his 100th goal for Barcelona.
His 40 goals this season are another indication that he remains one of the most prolific strikers in Europe despite his age of 36. He has helped Barcelona find the back of the net in many important matches this term.
The centre-forward has another year left on his Barcelona contract and will hope to make the most of it during his time as he continues to impress with his goalscoring instincts.
