The forward was replaced in the 46th minute of the game.

Marseille boss Roberto de Zerbi provided brutal honesty when he was asked why he replaced Mason Greenwood in their 3-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1.

The former Brighton & Hove head coach revealed he didn’t like the way he played and was unimpressed by his performance which saw him remove the former Manchester United forward from the game.

Greenwood has won over the fans ever since his move to the Ligue 1 club, the forward has shown his calibre from dribbling to goalscoring exploits. But the player didn’t have his day against PSG.

His lack of commitment in the game saw him get replaced in just 46th minute which was surprising as Marseille were playing against PSG, and the 23-year-old presence on the field was important.

Greenwood would have been the big game-changer in the match, but there was something that De Zerbi wasn’t impressed and he decided to replace the forward.

However, the host conceded three goals. After the match, when the Italian coach was asked, he said, â€śBecause I didn’t like the way he played. If we want to compete for the title, we have to push in all matches. He’s a good guy, but I expected a lot more from him this evening.”

This will certainly be a big warning for Greenwood and if he wants to be the starter at the club he will have to follow De Zerbi’s instruction otherwise his starting spot could be in danger at the club.

Greenwood joined Marseille during the summer transfer window for ÂŁ27 million ($35m), the forward enjoyed a productive start to the season before going four matches without finding the back of the net.

However, he hopes to return to his form in Marseille’s next match and try to prove himself and lead the French club to more wins this season, who are third in the table.
