Rodrygo, Real Madrid and Brazil. star, created history on Tuesday by opening the score in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter against Atletico Madrid as the Los Blancos secured a 2-1 win in the first-leg of the Champions League 2024-25 Round of 16.

Rodrygo scored an incredible goal when he cut back to his left and curled the ball past Jan Oblak, opening the scoring for Madrid and giving them the lead in the game.

Rodrygo, a Brazilian midfielder, gave the home team the lead early in the European tournament, scoring his fifth goal in the competition.

Rodrygo scored this goal, bringing his tally to 25 goals in 61 games in the coveted tournament, five of which have come this season. In 38 games this season across all competitions, the Brazilian, who began the game and played the entire 90 minutes, has already scored 13 goals and supplied eight assists.

UEFA’s technical panel selected the attacking midfielder as the game’s MVP, describing it as a “very important individual recognition” and voicing their happiness with his performance.

The Brazilian has been impressive this season and has stepped up in big games, helping the Spanish capital win important matches. Madrid will go to Metropolitano with a lead next week and will hope to secure another win to book their place in the quarterfinal of the tournament.

However, his goal against Atletico Madrid saw him set another record and join the list of elites as he became the fifth youngest player to register 25 Champions League goals, joining Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland on the list.
