Ronald Koeman names Netherlands squad for October International break; Virgil van Dijk included
The Oranje will face Hungary and Germany in the Nations League games.
Ronald Koeman has named the Netherlands squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games. This time there has been a surprise exclusion from the roster.
Jurrien Timber has not been called up by Koeman for the Dutch’s Nations League matches in mid-October. Meanwhile, brother Quinten Timber has received the call-up to represent Oranje in the competition. There are new faces as well in the squad who will be looking to prove themselves in the October matches.
Koeman’s side are second in the table with four points, while Germany are top of the table with a better goal difference. Their Group also consist of Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Netherlands’ October matches will be against Hungary and Germany. Both will be away from home as Koeman’s side hope to top the group.
In their September matches the Oranje won 5-2 against Bosnia and Herzegovina and drew 2-2 with Germany. They will now have a chance to go top of the table if they prevail against Germany and Hungary.
Netherlands have an excellent batch of players who led the national team to the semi-final of the Euro 2024, where they lost 2-1 to England. They were also the first nation to reach the final inaugural Nations League before coming short against Portugal.
They will once again attempt to reach the final of the Nations League and will hope to end the trophy drought of a major tournament.
