He played for some top clubs during his career, such as Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona and others. Ronaldo was also a crucial part of the Brazil national football team. He won the 1997 and 2002 World Cups with the national team. Although he did not play any matches during the 1997 edition, he was a part of the squad.

The legendary forward scored a brace for Brazil, helping them clinch the 2002 FIFA World Cup title. It is also regarded as one of the best performances in a World Cup final.

Ronaldo Nazario’s calm and composed attitude, along with dazzling footwork, helped him achieve the top levels of the game. He retired in 2011 after recurring cases of frequent injuries. The Brazilian legend is still a part of the game, although from afar.

He owns the Spain-based club, Real Valladolid. Ronaldo, being one of the top players of his time, has shared the pitch with some great players like Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos and others.

During his recent interview with CBS Sports Golazo, the Brazilian legend revealed the toughest defender he has ever faced. He mentioned Paulo Maldini, the AC Milan and Italy national football team legend, as the toughest defender.

The interviewer also suggested Jamie Carragher’s name, but the Brazilian legend did not pay much attention to that. Ronaldo said, “I have played with a lot of great defenders, but Paulo Maldini was the toughest.”

Ronaldo Nazario has been an idol for players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kylian Mbappe as well. Meanwhile, Real Valladolid, the club owned by the Brazilian legend, were demoted to Segunda Division.
