How much compensation will Ruben Amorim receive from Manchester United?

The club got rid of the Portuguese manager last month.

In order to get the highly regarded tactician, Manchester United agreed to a compensation deal of £10 million ($13 million) with Sporting CP. The club licensing benchmarking report from UEFA disclosed that number.

However, the Red Devils are paying £15.9 million after removing Amorim and five coaching staff members from their dugout, according to the European Football Organisation.

That is the highest package that the 41-year-old and his backroom crew may receive, but it depends on a variety of variables, such as whether he finds other work within a specific time frame.

When United decided to cut ties with Amorim, they still owed Sporting £6.3 million ($8 million), which would be paid over a number of years. The Red Devils believed they had no option but to incur losses as a result of yet another coaching experiment gone wrong.

Neither Erik ten Hag, Amorim’s predecessor, nor Dan Ashworth, the former director of football, were persuasive during their respective tenures at Old Trafford, so United had to pay $14.5 million ($20 million) to let them go. Over the course of 15 months, the total cost for two managers and a senior executive might surpass £30 million ($40 million).

The Red Devils have had difficulties in finding a top-class head coach. According to UEFA’s study, United have spent more money on transfers than any other team in the world during the last five years.

United’s spending €794 million (£696 million/$937 million) on transfer deals between 2021 and 2025 demonstrates the extent of underperformance at Old Trafford. Second on that list are Chelsea (£656m/$883m) and Arsenal (£587m/$790m).
