Other clubs are also keen on signing the Portuguese player.

According to reports, head coach Ruben Amorim is eager to sign Francisco Trincao at Manchester United as they look for a replacement for Marcus Rashford, although Barcelona may present a challenge.

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are unlikely to return from their loan stints at Aston Villa and Chelsea, respectively. Thus the United manager is keen to add a winger during the summer transfer window. Amorim is therefore considering a move for Trincao, a star of Sporting CP, who scored two goals in Portugal’s most recent victory over Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.

The Red Devils’ fiercest rival in the transfer market will be Trincao’s old team, Barcelona, who apparently have a buy-back option worth slightly more than £20 million ($25 million). According to The Sun, Newcastle United and Arsenal have also expressed interest in signing the winger in the summer.

Former Sporting manager Amorim is still optimistic that his previous relationship with the player can persuade him to come to Manchester before the 2025–26 season, despite the Blaugrana’s challenge. Trincao is a right winger with a left foot who can play in the middle or on either flank.

He has been in sensational form for both club and country this season. His brace against the Danes will further attract more clubs, who will be interested in acquiring a player of his calibre.

However, the Spanish team currently holds the advantage in signing the Portuguese, given their buy-back option in his contract. However, Barcelona already have enough players for the right-wing spot, and they want to sign a left-winger next season.

Meanwhile, Trincao will look to continue to impress with his exploits in the Portuguese league. He would be keen to join a top club to further solidify his status in Europe.

On April 1, United will resume play when they take on Nottingham Forest, who are currently in third place, in a challenging away match in the Premier League.
