The Brazilian star will still hope for a place in the 2026 World Cup squad.
Neymar, a Brazilian superstar, is once again battling an injury. Concerns are mounting about Santos’ forward’s chances of captaining Brazil in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after he experienced yet another setback in his recuperation.
Being sidelined almost every week at 33 feels like a nightmare, as most players usually call off their career with constant injuries. The announcement that Neymar won’t be playing again before November was verified by Santos president Marcelo Teixeira.
33-year-old suffers an injury setback while recovering
The veteran will allegedly require at least six more weeks of treatment as he recovers from an injury to his right thigh.
As they fight to avoid relegation, Santos will have to play a critical run of league games without their best player.
Neymar’s season has been erratic, despite moments of his former magnificence. Since returning to the team, he has only participated in 21 games and just scored six goals.
Carlo Ancelotti on Neymar’s chances of making Brazil’s World Cup squad

While Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Brazil, keeps a tight eye on him, his absences have irritated both coaches and supporters.
Ancelotti recently said, “I want him to be really well to be able to play. He can participate in the World Cup if he is physically well. From a technical point of view, there is no discussion.
“His objective must be to be ready in June. It does not matter whether he is in the list in October, November or March.”
The 33-year-old has experienced premature injuries in the past. His career’s injury highlights include a medical chart detailing his injuries, which range from a fractured back in 2014 to a ruptured ACL in 2023.
For the time being, Neymar will look to return to his full fitness before the end of the season. There’s a chance for another comeback, but the fundamental question is whether it will result in a call-up to Brazil’s 2026 World Cup squad.
