Lionel Scaloni guided Argentina to consecutive Copa America titles.

Lionel Scaloni wishes to commit to Argentina for more than 15 years after guiding them to a second Copa America as a manager of the national team.

Scaloni has changed the fortunes of Argentina ever since he took the hot-seat in 2019. Before that, Lionel Messi and Co. suffered major heartbreaks at the 2014 World Cup as well as the 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals.

Scaloni has been the torchbearer of this Argentina side, guiding them out of that dark phase and making them one of the most dominant nations in international football.

Argentina are now the second nation after Spain to win three consecutive major international titles, 2021 Copa America, 2022 FIFA World Cup and now 2024 Copa America. While Spain won the 2008 Euros, the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Euros.

Argentina will be open to keeping the former assistant manager for as long as they can after success at Copa America 2024. After the final game, when he was asked about his future, Scaloni said, “For now, I have two more years in my contract.” He further added, “We should tell the president to sign me for 15 years and I’ll sign!”

Lionel Scaloni has been a perfect manager of the national team and has impressively understood the role of each player. Moreover, how he managed to implement a gameplan around Messi in this competition was incredible.

“I had a bad time last year, I wasn’t in good condition. I said that because there was a stalemate (in contract talks), for a few months. The day I have a problem, I’ll say it. Today I’m fine, I’ve recovered all that and we hope to continue on this path,” he added

Argentina will now have to prepare for another Finalissima, where they will play Spain, the recently-crowned European champions. Meanwhile, the World Cup Qualifying matches against Chile and Colombia are scheduled for September.
