Marvel star Simu Liu in attendance for Canada vs South Africa FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 clash

Canada and South Africa are facing each other for the first time in the World Cup.

Co-hosts Canada are currently facing South Africa in an action-packed round-of-32 clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both sides have reached the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup for the first time in history.

Bafana Bafana finished second in Group A despite getting a miserable start to their campaign in the summer competition. They lost their first game 2-0 to Mexico, then drew with Czechia and defeated South Korea to secure a spot in the knockout round.

Meanwhile, Canada started their World Cup campaign with a draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the second game, they put their goalscoring prowess on a show by defeating Qatar 6-0, courtesy of a hat-trick from Juventus attacker Jonathan David.

Canada were also the team with the third most shots on target, trailing only Germany and France. Thus, in every way, the match offers exciting action. To witness the game, Canadian actor Simu Liu and FIFA president Gianni Infantino were in attendance.

Canadian actor Simu Liu, famous for his work in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Copenhagen Rest, and more, was present at the stadium to watch Los Rouges play in their maiden FIFA World Cup knockout game.

Apart from the actor, the Secretary General of FIFA, Mattias Grafström, is present at the Los Angeles Stadium. He was spotted sitting alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who has been watching many games in the ongoing edition of the coveted tournament.

Alongside Infantino, CAF President Patrice Motsepe and South African football legend Siphiwe Tshabalala are also present, watching the knockout-stage game.

The winner of the ongoing round-of-32 game between Canada and South Africa will face the winner of another knockout game between the Netherlands and Morocco on Saturday, July 4.
