The La Roja will face France in the semi-final of the tournament.
The team for Spain’s next Nations League semi-final in Germany next week has been revealed by manager Luis de la Fuente. The main storyline for La Roja is the 33-year-old Real Betis playmaker Isco’s comeback after a six-year break.
As the current Euro 2024 winners, they are heavy favourites going into the semi-finals after defeating the Netherlands on penalties in the quarter-finals. The victor will face either Portugal or Germany, who play the previous evening. France will be their opponent on June 5th in Stuttgart.
Isco has returned to Spain after missing Euro 2020 qualifications against Sweden and the Faroe Islands in 2019. He was called up for Euro 2024 but was sadly sidelined by a late injury. He has earned his place back in Spain’s squad after one of LaLiga’s greatest second halves of the season.
While Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi returns from injury to replace his defensive partner Inigo Martinez, new Real Madrid signing Dean Huijsen maintains his position at the expense of his future teammate Raul Asencio. Additionally, Gavi is making his comeback to the team for the first time since he had a cruciate ligament injury in 2023.
Ferran Torres of Barcelona, who is playing at his peak right now, is recuperating from appendicitis, and it appears that La Fuente thought the timeframe was too short for him to return from surgery. Perhaps Espanyol’s Joan Garcia was left off the headline, which could have an impact on his future.
