Spain announce squad for March international break; Raul Asencio receives first-ever call-up

La Roja will face Netherlands in the Nations League quarter-final.
Luis de la Fuente, the manager of Spain, has announced his most recent international team for the March Nations League quarterfinal matchup against the Netherlands.
The national team has once again been dominated by many Barcelona players. According to the most recent list, De La Fuente has added Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Marc Casado, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal.
Nevertheless, despite his stellar play, Alejandro Balde has no place, while Gavi has also been passed over following a protracted injury layoff.
Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino and Ayoze Perez kept their positions in the attacking third, as did Bryan Zaragoza, who returned to the team in November after playing well for Osasuna.
Mikel Oyarzabal maintained his position despite his difficulties with Real Sociedad. Porto forward Samu Omorodion and Alvaro Morata, who is on loan to Galatasaray, continue to be the team’s natural number nine alternatives.
Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, who had been predicted to be included, were the big name to miss out. Isco Alarcon may be the biggest letdown for many supporters, but it seems like de la Fuente is content with his alternatives in the creative midfield spots.
On March 20, Spain will play their opening match at Rotterdam’s Feyenoord Stadium. Three days later, they will play again at Valencia’s Mestalla. Spain will face Croatia or France in the semi-finals if they advance.
