Both nations will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers matches this month.

After Lamine Yamal was withdrawn due to discomfort late on Sunday, Luis de la Fuente called up Borja Iglesias to the Spain team. After two and a half years, the striker, who has been in excellent form this season, makes a comeback.

On Sunday, October 5th, Luis de la Fuente gave Borja Iglesias a last-minute call-up to the squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia and Bulgaria.

Despite failing to score against Atletico Madrid, the Celta forward had been playing well, recording goals in six straight games, which was a career high. He was surprisingly called up to the national team, which has already lost Rodri and Lamine Yamal due to injuries.

“Woltemade will not be arriving today due to the flu virus,” the German team said.
