Spain became the first team to win six of six games at the European championship following their thumping 2-1 win over France a few days ago. Spain kicked off their campaign with a statement 3-0 win over Croatia before sealing a 1-0 win against the defending champions, Italy in their second group game. They then wrapped up their group stage fixtures with a win over Albania followed by comeback 4-1 over Georgia in the RO16. Spain made their intentions obvious by eliminating championship favourites and hosts Germany in the last eight before defeating France in the semi-finals.

Spain will be up against England in the final. The Three Lions have made it to their consecutive final despite having a slow start to their campaign. England have settled all their critics in the best possible way by making it to the final. From being criticized for a lack of intent to being the finalists, England have come a long way in the tournament.

Gareth Southgate’s men began their campaign with a 0-1 win over Serbia before playing out draws against Denmark and Slovenia. England somehow managed to survive against Slovakia in the RO16 wherein Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane saved the day for them. They then knocked Switzerland out of the tournament followed by a semi-final win over the Netherlands.

It has been an entertaining month of end-to-end action, but it’s now down to the two teams who will battle it out in the final. Both teams have played each other 27 times with England winning 14 games while Spain have won 10. The upcoming final will mark the first meeting between the two sides since 2018.
