All teams will now battle in the second leg to seal their fate for the UCL final.

With Barcelona and Inter Milan tied 3-3 overall and Paris Saint-Germain leading by one goal heading back to France, the first half of the UEFA Champions League semifinals is over.

At Emirates Stadium, Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal. PSG appeared to be the superior team that evening. They could have scored three or four goals with better finishing.

Barcelona and Inter, on the opposite side of the bracket, engaged in back-and-forth fighting all night. All indications lead to another intense match at San Siro. Each of the six goals was of excellent quality.

However, the Catalan club will be without Jules Kounde. He has suffered a thigh injury and will be out for three weeks.

Supercomputer Predicts Champions League winner after the semifinal first-legs

Following the first leg, each semifinalist’s odds of winning the Champions League trophy were ranked by Opta’s supercomputer.

  • Paris Saint-Germain: 41.9%
  • Barcelona: 25.8%
  • Inter Milan: 20.2%
  • Arsenal: 12.1%

Following their performance in the first leg, PSG surpassed Arsenal as the Champions League favourites. From kickoff until now, Arsenal’s chances have fallen by over 20 percentage points. Thomas Partey’s comeback will provide the Gunners with a significant boost in France as they will hope to overturn a one-goal deficit.

His natural position in midfield should allow Mikel Merino to return to striker. His leadership was missed by Arsenal, who struggled to keep up with Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Despite needing to go to Italy, Barcelona have an advantage over Inter Milan. A matchup with either PSG or Arsenal in the final could also see the return of Barcelona’s star striker, Robert Lewandowski.

However, with eight clean sheets in the tournament, Inter continue to be one of Europe’s most resolute defences. After showing their ability to switch the game to the Catalans’ defence at any time, they will want to hold Barca at bay.
