The Blagult can seal their place in the Round of 32 with a win in tonight’s match.

Sweden take on Japan in their final Group F clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on June 25. The Scandinavian side are third in the group with three points and need a win in tonight’s match to ensure qualification to the knockout stage.

The Swedes started their World Cup campaign in emphatic fashion, beating Tunisia 5-1. Yasin Ayari netted a brace, and Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, and Mattias Svanberg also found the back of the net.

However, any morale boost from that victory vanished in the next match, as the Netherlands beat the Blagult 5-1. Anthony Elanga scored the sole goal for his side in what was a disappointing night for Graham Potter’s side.

The European side need to beat Japan to secure qualification for the Round of 32. However, in case they fail to get all three points, they will need to wait and see if they are one of the eight best third-placed sides that will progress to the next stage.

37-year-old Kristoffer Nordfeldt, who has conceded six goals in the tournament so far, is replaced by Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom. The three-man defence of Gustaf Lagerbielke, Isak Hien, and Gabriel Gudmundsson also retain their starting spots in central defence, despite a disappointing performance in the last match.

Captain Victor Lindelof starts in the middle of the park and will be tasked with breaking up the opposition’s attacks. He is joined by Brighton talent Yasin Ayari. Alexander Berhanrdsson and Elliot Stroud start as wide midfielders.

Having impressed after coming on from the bench, Anthony Elanga starts on the right flank. Viktor Gyokeres, despite an anonymous performance in the last match, starts in the centre-forward role, while Liverpool’s Alexander Isak shifts to the left wing.
