Switzerland predicted lineup for UEFA Euro 2024
Switzerland will look to improve its quarter-finish from Euro 2020.
Switzerland is set to feature in their sixth UEFA European Football Championship when they kick off against Hungary in Euro 2024. Playing in Group A against formidable opponents such as hosts Germany, Scotland, and Hungary, Murat Yakin’s 26-member squad aims to surpass their previous records in the competition.
The Nati had an impressive outing in the last Euros, achieving their best-ever result with a quarter-final finish before being eliminated in a shootout against Spain. The Rossocrociati will be motivated to produce even better results, led by Bayer Leverkusen’s 2023-24 Bundesliga-winning captain, Granit Xhaka.
Let’s have a look at how the experienced Swiss side would line up in UEFA Euro 2024:
Switzerland Predicted Lineup (Formation: 4:3:3):
GK – Yann Sommer
The veteran Inter Milan goalkeeper has been Switzerland’s first choice for some time now. The 35-year-old has already represented the Nati in 89 games. During the team’s impressive stint in Euro 2020, Sommer featured in all the games.
His performances in the European qualifiers in 2023 have also been excellent. In the ongoing 2023-24 season, Sommer played in 34 Serie A and 7 UEFA Champions League games.
LB- Ricardo Rodriguez
The 31-year-old Torino captain is expected to start in the left-back position. Rodriguez had an impressive season with Torino in 2023-24, playing in 35 Serie A games. He even scored a goal against A.C. Milan in his second-last game.
Rodriguez has played in 115 games for the national side, netting nine goals and providing 11 assists. He has played as both a centre-back and left-back in the European Qualifiers in 2023.

The 32-year-old’s international career has been a significant asset for Switzerland, where he has appeared in 81 games, scoring eight goals and assisting nine.
CB – Manuel Akanji
The 28-year-old Manuel Akanji has clinched the coveted EPL title with Manchester City this season. Akanji is one of the most consistent players in Yakin’s side. He has featured in all of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and European Qualifiers of 2023. To date, he has played in 60 games for Switzerland.
RB- Kevin Mbabu
FC Augsburg’s Kevin Mbabu can start as right-back for Team Switzerland. In his 24 matches for the national side, Mbabu has caught attention with his speed and defensive abilities. Mbabu can expect to mark his return in the 2024 Euros after missing the 2022 World Cup and European Qualifiers in 2023.
CM- Granit Xhaka
Captain Granit Xhaka is undoubtedly the team’s biggest asset. The 31-year-old midfielder is having a dream run after clinching the 2023-24 Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. He hopes to replicate similar heroics when he represents his country in Euros 2024.
In the 125 games Xhaka has played, he has displayed passion and consistency. He has not missed a game for his country since March 26, 2022, and has scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists.

CM – Remo Freuler
Another Serie A player, Remo Freuler, is expected to be an automatic choice for Murat Yakin. He has delivered consistent performances in all games for Switzerland since 2021 (except for two). Freuler made his debut in 2016 and has since played in 67 games, netting 8 goals and providing 5 assists.
LW – Ruben Vargas

CF- Zeki Amdouni
The young and lethal Zeki Amdouni is surely Switzerland’s first-choice center-forward. At only 23 years old, the highly talented Burnley striker has donned the national colors in 15 instances, scoring seven goals and providing an assist.
