The Schweizer Nati are looking for their first win of this year’s World Cup.
Switzerland take on Bosnia and Herzegovina in a matchday two fixture in Group B at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on June 18. The Nati began their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Qatar and are looking for their first win of the tournament.
One of the favourites to top the group, Murat Yakin’s side took an early lead against Qatar through a penalty from Breel Embolo. However, they failed to add to their tally despite creating several chances, and conceded late in the match to share a point with their opponents.
Facing a Bosnia and Herzegovina side making a long-awaited return to the World Cup, the Nati will be looking to clinch all three points and put themselves in a favourable position to finish at the top of the group.

Switzerland (4-3-3): Gregor Kobel; Silvan Widmer, Nico Elvedi, Manuel Akanji, Ricardo Rodriguez; Michel Aebischer, Granit Xhaka (c), Remo Freuler; Fabien Rieder, Breel Embolo, Dan Ndoye.

Thoughts on the lineup
Hamburger SV midfielder Miro Muheim, who was credited with an own goal for the Qatari equaliser, is a doubt for the upcoming match due to a muscle injury. Other than that, Yakin fielded a mostly unchanged side from the last match.
Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel starts between the sticks, shielded by the experienced centre-back pairing of Nico Elvedi and Manuel Akanji. Ricardo Rodriguez starts at left-back, while captain Granit Xhaka anchors the midfield. The pair will tie with Xherdan Shaqiri for having the most World Cup appearances for their nation (14).
Mainz’s Silvan Widmer slots in at right-back. Xhaka is joined in the midfield by Michel Aebischer and Bologna veteran Remo Freuler. Matchday one’s hero Breel Embolo starts as the striker, joined by Dan Ndoye and Fabian Rieder on either flank. Ruben Vargas, who starred against Qatar, has been surprisingly dropped to the bench.
