Switzerland and Canada have faced each other only once before.
Switzerland are all set to lock horns with Canada in their last group-stage game of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at BC Place in Vancouver on Wednesday, June 24. In their last game, Nati have a golden opportunity to top Group B by beating the co-hosts, who also have four points after two games.
After playing a 1-1 draw against Qatar in their opening game, Switzerland recorded a statement win over Bosnia-Herzegovina last week. Despite a silent first half, Murat Yakin’s team exploded against Bosnia, scoring four goals in the last 20 minutes of the game.
Johan Manzambi was subbed in the 72nd minute for Michel Aebischer, and he went on to score twice in 19 minutes. The 20-year-old took only two shots, and both of them resulted in a goal. Breel Embolo and Ruben Vargas also found the back of the net, securing a 4-1 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
While the Swiss side looks confident coming into the last game, Canada also won their last game against Qatar by netting six goals and keeping a clean sheet. Nati would have to tame Juventus striker Jonathan David, who scored a spectacular hat-trick against Qatar.
Apart from David, Nathan Saliba and Cyle Larin could also pose a potential threat to the Swiss side. However, in all the cases, the game is expected to be exciting.

Thoughts on the lineup
Gregor Kobel will take the goalkeeping charge for Switzerland. Ricardo Rodríguez’s and Lucas Jaquez’s experience also makes them certain to start as the full-backs. Manuel Akanji and Nico Elvedi will form the formidable defence for Nati.
Johan Manzambi and Granit Xhaka will play in a double pivot in the midfield, controlling the tempo of the game and providing balance while also helping the side in defensive actions.
