Real Madrid must play Talavera de la Reina in the Copa del Rey round of 32 before they can anticipate a much-needed vacation.

For Los Blancos, the Copa del Rey remains the most elusive of all the big trophies in Spain. Only once in the past ten years have the Spanish powerhouses won the competition. Their most recent setback came against FC Barcelona in the final of the previous season.

Real Madrid will have a new beginning in the 2025–2026 season, starting against Talavera, a third-tier team. The team, which is presently ranked 19th in the Primera Federación division, have lost eight of its previous 13 games in all competitions.
