Juventus are also keen to appoint Motta as their next manager
Thiago Motta’s name is back in the spotlight because he may be the only person who can change the current atmosphere of mistrust and uncertainty surrounding AC Milan.
It is evident that Milan are currently searching for a new head coach; someone who can inspire a gifted team, perform better when it matters most, and bring the team together as a whole to attempt and close the gap with the boisterous neighbours Inter.
Julen Lopetegui to AC Milan?
Then word leaked out that Julen Lopetegui, a manager who has held positions with Real Madrid, Porto, Rayo Vallecano, the Spanish national side, and lastly with Wolverhampton Wanderers, was going to join Milan.
Social media users have already launched the “#NOPEtegui” movement, and a petition with thousands of entries from fans who share the same conviction that he is not the right fit for Milan has been created.
It appears that the management has now reversed their position on what they believed to be the right course of action. This is something that has to be thoroughly and independently explored, but what will they do next?

The Milan leadership, including Gerry Cardinale, are faced with a difficult decision: either they choose to remain true to their principles and appoint a manager who seems unpopular, or they rush to find a replacement who enjoys less internal support.
The owner himself would indeed have requested that his management halt the long-running negotiations with Lopetegui. It was written to look into other profiles and try to ease some of the fan emotions.
The Curva Sud’s statement further highlighted the unhappiness, and there was also the possibility of protests which were later called off. Consequently, Lopetegui has already offered and approved a three-year contract, but it hasn’t been signed.
