In an intriguing development, AS revealed that Thibaut Courtois, a Real Madrid veteran, has acquired shares in Le Mans FC, a Ligue 2 team in France, through his investment firm.
Earlier today, Ligue 2 team Le Mans announced a major internal reorganisation. The dominant stakeholder is now Outfield, a Brazilian investment fund that joined as an investor in the summer.
Notable athletes like Felipe Massa and Novak Djokovic, along with former Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen, also have shares in the club.
The Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois has now committed money to the project through his investment firm NxtPlay, making him a partial owner of the French team.

Courtois has been drawn to the impressive work being done by the French club. It is a club with a long history that had to face severe challenges years ago as a result of its large debt load.
However, the club’s situation has improved throughout the last year or two. The team finished in second place in the third division of French football last season.
After going 20 games without losing, which includes making it to the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France, they had an incredible season finale that guaranteed their return to the second division of French football. In Ligue 2, they are presently ranked fifth.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid talents Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. are co-owners of SM Caen in France and Alverca SC in Portugal, respectively. It clearly demonstrates the growing trend of football players investing in sports teams.
