Bayern will go trophyless for the first time in over a decade
According to an ESPN source, Thomas Tuchel will stay on as coach of Bayern Munich despite worries that he might not be granted the Manchester United position even if it becomes open.
Tuchel’s departure from Bayern at the end of the season was confirmed in February. However, after being rejected by several possible successors, including Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick, the German team has discussed with Tuchel the prospect of continuing on.
If they choose to part ways with Erik ten Hag at the conclusion of the season, Tuchel has seen United as a possible next step. However, a source claims that he worries that even if Ten Hag quits, he might not win the post.
Tuchel fears he could not be the right match for the position because of concerns that new sporting director Dan Ashworth wants an athletic director to fit into a larger system rather than name a manager with greater authority.

The former manager of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain is known for taking on club executives. Meanwhile, Ashworth has worked with Graham Potter at Brighton and Gareth Southgate when he was at the English Football Association, enhancing his resume as an accomplished sporting director.
If negotiations with Bayern fail and a position becomes available at Old Trafford, Tuchel is still willing to have formal talks with United.
Ten Hag’s future will not be decided by United until after the FA Cup final on May 25 against Manchester City.
With a contract that expires in 2025, the Dutchman is under growing pressure after a poor second campaign in command. With one league game remaining, United could record their lowest-ever Premier League finish after finishing last in their Champions League group.
If United, currently ranked eighth in the league, doesn’t place in the top seven or win the FA Cup, they won’t be able to play in Europe the following season. When United plays Brighton at the Amex on Sunday, they can tie Newcastle United’s result against Brentford for seventh place.
