Some of these names are dominating the charts right now.

The France national football team has long been a breeding ground for exceptional young talent. From the early 20th century to the present day, Les Bleus have consistently unearthed gems who’ve made their mark on the international stage at remarkably young ages.

Ousmane Dembele, despite his potential, has struggled with consistency and injuries. His career trajectory stands in contrast to that of Kylian Mbappe, who has surpassed all expectations since bursting onto the scene with AS Monaco. At just 24, Mbappe boasts a World Cup title and numerous records.

Going back in time, Maurice Gastiger’s name echoes from a distant era. In 1914, at just 17 years and 11 months, he etched his name in French football history, holding the record for youngest goalscorer for over a century

Now Let’s look at the Top 5 youngest goalscorers of France’s National team.

5. Ousmane Dembele (20 years)- 2017

Ousmane Dembele may be seen as one who has great potential but has yet to deliver on the big stage. The star player for Paris Saint Germain has struggled with consistency throughout his career and his injury-prone body hasn’t done him any good. As far as his international career has been concerned, he hasn’t been able to fix his place in the starting lineup despite making his debut in 2016.

He and Mbappe were tipped to lead France’s new attacking line when they made headlines in 2017 but only Mbappe has lived up to the hype. However, Dembele still holds the World Cup and here and there he has created some jaw-dropping performances. Against England in 2017, he became one of the youngest players to score for France when he was just 20 years old.

4. Kylian Mbappe (18 years 8 months)- 2017

Throughout his career, Kylian Mbappe has done more than meet all expectations. Since the days of AS Monaco in 2016, he has fulfilled all expectations. Despite being 24 years old, the Paris Saint Germain star has already won the World Cup and the Golden Boot. In his short but glorious career, he has won many records.

After a heroic season at Monaco in 2016, Mbappe finally made his long-awaited debut in 2017. He scored against Netherlands on 31st August in the World Cup qualifiers to inscribe his name in French football history. In 84 appearances at the International arena for France, he has netted 48 goals.

3. Maurice Gastiger (17 years 11 months)- 1914

Gastiger is one of the strangest names in French football history. Despite making only three appearances for the national team, he held the record for the record book for over 100 years. The star forward of Rennes was known in French football and played for the national team for the first time in 1914.

In his second appearance for the national team only, Gastiger scored and became the youngest goalscorer for the national team. His goal led to a draw against Switzerland during a friendly match.

2. Eduardo Camavinga (17 years 10 months)- 2020

With his goal against Ukraine in 2020, Eduardo Camavinga broke the French national team’s record for the youngest goal scorer. He was at Rennes at the time and already had a name for himself on the world stage. However, after that goal against Ukraine, his life changed dramatically.

Currently playing for Real Madrid, Camavinga is one of the most exciting names in world football. He was a part of France’s runner-up World Cup squad and has made a big impression in his career only a few years old.

1. Warren Zaire-Emery (17 years 8 months)- 2023

Prior to the start of 2023/24 season, the football fraternity may not have heard of Warren Zaire-Emery, but the PSG prodigy has made a big name for himself since only making his debut last year. At the age of 17, many greats already believe he will become the best midfielder in the world if he continues at his pace.

A few days ago, Warren Zaire-Emery was called up to play for the French national team in Euro qualifying matches, and in his debut match against Gibraltar, he not only became the third youngest debutant but scored a goal that gave him the youngest goal scorer for France in history, passing Camavinga.
