Preview: Tottenham vs Newcastle United Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds | Premier League 2025-26

Tuesday night football returns to North London on February 10, 2026.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosts a massive Premier League clash between two teams stuck in a rut. Both clubs are currently drifting in mid-table.

The hosts sit 15th (at time of writing) on 29 points, while the visitors find themselves three spots higher in 12th. Newcastle United hold a slim four-point lead over their opponents.

So, the game is about more than just the three points. It is a huge chance for either manager to stop the rot before the season moves into the final straight.

Tottenham come into this one in terrible form. They have failed to secure a victory so far in 2026. This slump has seen them throw away vital points against teams they really should be beating. To make matters worse, Thomas Frank has a real selection crisis at the back.

Cristian Romero serves a suspension after picking up a red card against Manchester United. His absence leaves a massive hole in the defence. It forces the manager to rethink his lineup against a Newcastle front line that is lightning-fast on the counter-attack.

Without their main man at the back, Spurs must rely on Dominic Solanke to finish chances at the other end. The striker has only found the net in patches during what has been a tough season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United travel to the capital, still reeling from a messy 2-3 home loss to Brentford. Eddie Howe’s side showed plenty of heart to pull level twice through Bruno Guimarães, but their leaky defence eventually let them down.

Their form away from home is also a major worry. The Magpies have only managed two wins on the road all season. That isn’t exactly a stat that builds confidence before visiting one of the biggest stadiums in the league.

History suggests we usually see goals when these two play. The 2-2 draw they fought out at St James’ Park back on December 2 showed exactly that.

Neither side look solid at the back right now, so the fans should expect a high-scoring game. In the end, the team that does the best job of hiding their defensive flaws will probably take the points in this battle of the underachievers.

  • Date: Wednesday, February 11
  • Kick-off Time: 1 AM IST

Players to watch out for:

Xavi Simons (Tottenham Hotspur)

Xavi Simons is under the microscope at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He has found it hard to hit top gear, scoring just once in 1,198 Premier League minutes. The young Dutchman has managed four assists, but a red card and only fourteen starts have really messed with his rhythm.

It’s been a rough start to his time at Spurs. Thomas Frank needs him to find his spark and improve that 6.95 rating quickly if the team are going to turn things around.

Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle United)

Bruno Guimarães is the heart and soul of Newcastle’s midfield. He has been on fire this season, putting up a massive 7.62 average rating over 22 tough games. The Brazilian playmaker has already scored eight goals and four assists in 1,929 minutes.

It’s clear he is the main creative spark for the Magpies right now. Even with four yellow cards to his name, he stays disciplined and keeps driving the team forward with non-stop energy.

Match Facts:

  • Xavi Simons has created the most big chances for Tottenham Hotspur (6).
  • Newcastle United haven’t lost to Tottenham Hotspur in their last seven meetings (5W, 2D).
  • The Magpies haven’t kept a clean sheet in five matches.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United Betting Tips and Odds:

  • Both Teams to Score (Yes) & Over 2.5 Goals: 1.87 (Bet365).
  • Newcastle United Double Chance (Win or Draw): 2.55 (William Hill).
  • Bruno Guimarães to Score Anytime: 2.12 (Sky Bet).

Injuries and Team News:

Thomas Frank is dealing with a massive injury list as Spurs get ready for this game. They are missing a huge chunk of their best starting eleven right now. The pressure on the rest of the squad is growing because an ACL injury has sidelined James Maddison for the rest of the season.

At the same time, knee and hamstring problems are keeping Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro out. Neither player is expected back until the end of the month. On top of that, Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus are facing long roads back, with neither likely to return before March or April.

Newcastle are also struggling with their own fitness issues. They are missing Anthony Gordon’s spark up front because a hamstring strain keeps him out until mid-February.

Eddie Howe is also short on power in the middle because of a thigh problem with Joelinton, who won’t be back until later this month. To make things worse at the back, Fabian Schär is out until April after having surgery on his ankle.

Head-To-Head Stats:

Total Matches Played: 174

Tottenham Hotspur Wins: 74

Newcastle United Wins: 65

Draws: 35

Predicted Starting Lineups:

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Starting Lineup (4-3-2-1):

Guglielmo Vicario; Archie Gray, Radu Drăgușin, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie; Conor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha, Pape Sarr; Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons; Dominic Solanke.

Newcastle United Predicted Starting Lineup (4-1-2-3):

Nick Pope; Kieran Trippier, Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Lewis Hall; Sandro Tonali; Bruno Guimaraes, Joseph Willock; Jacob Murphy, Yoane Wissa, Harvey Barnes.

Match Prediction:

Spurs are in a real mess at the back with this injury crisis. Their defence looks wide open, and you’d expect Newcastle’s pace on the break to cause them nightmares all night. That said, Newcastle are still a disaster defensively when they’re away from home.

So, it feels like Dominic Solanke is bound to pounce on one of their mistakes. With the confidence from that world-class scorpion kick he just pulled off against City, he’ll be looking to snatch a hard-fought point in what should be a total goal-fest.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Newcastle United.
