The 26-year-old, who is one of three big Liverpool players whose contracts expire this summer, along with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, is expected to make about €15 million a season, with his signing bonus being “equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee.”
When the Merseyside native becomes a free agent in the summer, it appears that he will have to leave his comfort zone and say goodbye to his childhood club. The 26-year-old defender has no plans to extend his contract at Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold is expected to sign a contract of €15 million (£13 million/$16 million) per year at Santiago Bernabeu, which is a significant rise over his current Liverpool contract. He will also receive “attractive performance bonuses as well as a signing bonus that is equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee”.
According to reports, Liverpool attempted to negotiate with Alexander-Arnold, a homegrown talent, but they now need to find a successor. According to Sky, the Reds are aiming for Jeremie Frimpong, a standout for Bayer Leverkusen.
A “personal approach” is preferred, and Arne Slot is keen to welcome his fellow Dutchman to England. The manager of Liverpool is arranging a “medical meeting in the coming weeks” and is involved in frequent message exchanges with Frimpong’s agents.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid, who have had few options at the right-back position after the injury to Dani Carvajal, will benefit from the arrival of the England international as it will reinforce the club’s defence.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s mind is now set towards completing his dream move to Los Blancos, and it appears that after the end of the season, he will be wearing the white shirt.
