Turkiye starting lineup vs USA confirmed for FIFA World Cup 2026 match

The Crescent-Stars have already been eliminated from the World Cup ahead of tonight’s match.

Turkiye take on the USA in their final Group D clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on June 25. The Crescent-Stars have little more than pride to play for in their final group-stage game, having already been knocked out of the expanded 48-team tournament in North America.

Vincenzo Montella’s side, despite being labelled as dark horses, have had a woeful campaign so far, sitting at the bottom of the table with no points. They started the tournament by conceding once in each half to goals from Nestory Irankunda and Connor Metcalfe.

The European giants followed that up with another shock 1-0 loss to Paraguay. Despite playing the second half with a man advantage, courtesy of Miguel Almiron’s red card, the Crescent-Stars still failed to find the back of the net.

With Montella assured of keeping his job despite the team’s debacle in the World Cup, he will look to ensure that his men end the tournament on a bright note. However, they will face a tough test against a USA side who have won both their group-stage games so far.

Thoughts on the lineup

Galatasaray custodian Ugurcan Cakir starts between the sticks. The experienced centre-back pairing of Ozan Kabak and Abdulkerim Bardakci will marshal the defence. Skipper Zeki Celik and Eren Elmali start as full-backs.

Defensive midfielder Salih Ozcan starts as the defensive screen in the middle of the park and will be tasked with disrupting the opposition’s attack. He is joined by Orkun Kokcu. The latter replaces Hakan Calhanoglu, who his just one goal away from becoming his country’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler starts in an advanced role. He is flanked by Baris Alper Yilmaz and Kenan Yildiz, with the latter having recovered from a calf strain. Oguz Aydin starts as the lone striker ahead of Deniz Gul and Kerem Akturkoglu.
