Lamine Yamal aged 17 wins the Young Player of the Tournament award.
The drama of UEFA Euro 2024 is finally over as Spain clinch their fourth Euro title in history. This calls for celebration as they are the only team in the world to have four Euros in their cabinet. The next best team Germany were knocked out of the event in their own country at the quarter-final stage.
Although Luis de la Fuenteâs men are enjoying the triumph, the other half present in Berlin didnât. England have now lost back-to-back finals in Euro history having been beaten by Italy in the 2020 edition and now in the 2024 final by Spain.
Euro 2024 Winner: Spain
La Roja have done it. They are now the unprecedented leaders in the all-time rankings of Euro winners in history, having overtaken Germany who are on three themselves. The Euro 2024 was Spainâs fourth title having already won it back in the 1964, 2008 and 2012 editions.
Euro 2024 Runners Up: England
Gareth Southgate and Co. had a hard time getting their rhythm, which was felt in the entire journey to reach the European Championship 2024 final. They did make it to Berlin after a thumping performance in the semi-finals against Ronald Koemanâs Netherlands but facing Spain was a different ball game altogether.
Euro 2024 Golden Boot: Harry Kane (England), Dani Olmo (Spain), Cody Gakpo (Netherlands), Jamal Musiala (Germany), Georges Mikautadze (Georgia) & Ivan Schranz (Slovakia)
Unlike the Euro 2020 edition, where, Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the Golden Boot award even though he was level with Patrik Schick for the number of goals, the award will be distributed in a different manner in Euro 2024. Ronaldo took home the 2020 Golden Boot thanks to his assist superiority.
Six players who ended level on three goals even after the grand 2024 finale will now have a Golden Boot each. The winners are: Harry Kane (England), Dani Olmo (Spain), Cody Gakpo (Netherlands), Jamal Musiala (Germany), Georges Mikautadze (Georgia) and Ivan Schranz (Slovakia).
Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament: Rodri (Spain)
The Spanish side could play their free-flowing and attacking football just because of this man named Rodri. He had a short night in the final of the competition having been subbed off for MartĂn Zubimendi. The Manchester City defensive midfielder seemingly suffered an injury and Luis de la Fuente couldnât risk playing with an injured player in a major final.
Nevertheless, Rodri will be remembered in the Spanish football history books for his contributions.
Euro 2024 Young Player of the Tournament: Lamine Yamal (Spain)
What a player! Lamine Yamal started the competition at age 16 and ended up winning the title just after the day after his 17th birthday. A special, special player to come in ages from La Roja. FC Barcelona are surely lucky to have his services for the majority of the calendar year.
