Many top players have different skill sets and even unique moves.
Football playing styles have seen many variations over the years. Some teams maintain a good amount of ball possession throughout the match with slick passing and the others have a great counterattack. There are some players in a team who have a unique playing style and some even have special signature movements.
Some players even devise freestyle football moves during a professional match. Certain movements that become useful in outplaying the opponent come under the category of signature moves. There are some very useless moves that have been used more than once.
There have been several top-rated players over the years but only some of them stand out with their special moves on a football field. There are several ways to outplay an opponent on a football field but when a player comes up with an individual skill, that is something loved by the fans. Many iconic players have made it to the list.
10. Luka Modric – Outside of the Foot Pass
The Croatia national football team and Real Madrid midfield star is still scoring goals and providing assists. Luka Modric‘s outside-the-foot pass is known to many people as it has helped Los Blancos score some goals. Modric has come up with this many times during a match and has helped his team’s attacking front.
The majority of the players use the inside of their foot to pass or shoot but Luka Modric with this unique skill set many a time completely outplays the opposition.

Brazilian legend came up and popularised step overs on a football field. Many football players use this skill move now but Ronaldo Nazario from Brazil came in with it on the field and confused many defenders just by quickly rolling both of his feet over the ball one by one. This is one of the basic dribbling skills these days.
8. Ronaldinho – Elastico
Dribbling the ball between the legs of your opponents is one of the most satisfying things on a football field. Brazil and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho came up with a special move when he pushed the ball with the outside of his foot in one direction and quickly changed the direction of the ball with the inside of the foot. This leads the ball to go through the opponent’s legs on most of the occasions.
7. Lionel Messi – Body Feint
The Argentine forward knows how to break the ankles of the defenders with his special dribbling skills. Lionel Messi has a signature move of his own where he fakes his body movement to get into one direction but quickly changes it to another direction keeping the defenders stuck at one place.
6. Neymar Jr – Rainbow Flick
Neymar Jr has played for top teams during the best times of his career. The Brazilian forward is very well known for his first touch and dribbling skills. He also comes up with great passes leading his teammates to score goals.
One of Neymar’s special skills is to get through his opponents after tossing the ball over their heads with his feet. His Rainbow flick is different to normal rainbow skill as during the time of the flick both feet are indulged at the same time to bring the ball forward from back.

This skill is most often called as the ‘Ronaldo Chop’. The Portuguese talisman has used this special signature move to get through multiple defenders in his career. Moving the ball from one foot to another direction while running towards a defender often confuses them.
4. Antonin Panenka – The Panenka
A very unique way to use the chip technique. It is used during a spot kick/penalty kick in a football match. Antonin Panenka first used it during the European Championship leading his side to a victory. He comes running in but slowly chips the ball confusing the goalkeeper during a spot kick.
3. Diego Maradona – Roulette
Roulette also known as the ‘Maradona Turn’ first came into notice when Diego Maradona used to perform it during a football match. One of the greatest footballers of all time, Diego Maradona used to spin around himself by keeping control of the ball. This changes the direction completely thus confusing the defenders.
2. Mesut Ozil – Bounce Shot
The former Real Madrid, Arsenal and Germany national football team midfield star came up with a special move with his innovative plays. Ozil drives the ball hard into the football field’s surface which resulted in the ball bouncing back up towards the goal or in the direction of a fellow teammate as a pass.
1. Kerlon – Seal Dribble
It is one of the most skilful signature moves of all time. The Brazilian midfielder used to control the ball on his head going through the defenders with ease. Many defenders got annoyed with the move as they were unable to do anything to get back the ball. Only a tackle could stop Kerlon during the Seal Dribble.
