US president Donald Trump to attend FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final

Trump will be in attendance to watch the World Cup final in New Jersey.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey on Sunday will be attended by US President Donald Trump, he said at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The announcement was made the day after FIFA, the organisation that oversees football worldwide, revealed that it had built an office in the Trump Tower in New York.

In addition to co-hosting the World Cup with Canada and Mexico next year, the United States is hosting the inaugural edition of an upgraded Club World Cup 2025.

The Club World Cup final will take place at MetLife Stadium, which is going to host the World Cup final the following year.

Donald Trump chairs a group he formed to supervise tournament preparations, and he was present at the Super Bowl in February.

FIFA already maintains an office in Miami, and its ties to the US government will be improved by its presence at Trump Tower.

“We have received such a big support from the government and from the president with the White House taskforce for the Fifa Club World Cup and for the Fifa World Cup next year,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“Fifa is a global organisation and to be global you have to be local, you have to be everywhere, so we have to be in New York.”

Despite Trump’s immigration crackdown and a travel restriction on 12 nations, Infantino has reassured supporters that they will be welcomed in the United States. But according to reports, Trump is thinking of extending travel restrictions to up to 36 more nations outside.

Trump’s involvement in sports has increased during his second term; in May, he announced that Washington, DC, would host the 2027 NFL Draft and became the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl.

Trump has also stated that the White House will host a UFC event the following year and has attended a number of UFC events, namely the promotional event in New Jersey last month.
