USA vs Bosnia and Herzegovina : What happened at the Previous meetings?
The first meeting between the two nations came in Sarajevo on 14 August 2013 and produced one of the most entertaining friendlies of the year. Jozy Altidore starred for the United States, scoring a superb hat-trick, while Eddie Johnson added another to give the visitors a memorable 4-3 victory. Bosnia and Herzegovina fought until the very end through goals from Edin Džeko, Vedad Ibišević and Emir Spahić, but the Americans held on to claim victory in a seven-goal thriller.
The rivalry resumed nearly five years later in Carson, California in 2018. Unlike their first encounter, chances were few and far between as both teams cancelled each other out. Cole Bassett scored the only goal of the match early in the second half, while the American defence produced a disciplined display to preserve the clean sheet and extend the nation’s unbeaten record against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
