Top five best footballers from USMNT (USA) in world currently
These five players remain crucial to USA’s chances
USMNT begins their Copa América campaign as the host nation with an opening match against Bolivia. Boasting a roster full of stars, the team can make a serious bid for the trophy. Leading the charge is Christian Pulisic, who had an outstanding season with AC Milan.
The USA are placed in Group C, which includes Bolivia, Panama, and Uruguay. While Panama and Bolivia are formidable opponents, Uruguay stands out as the primary threat in the group.
Let’s now look at the players who could make a real difference for USA in the future:
5. Tyler Adams
Tyler Adams had a season to forget after being sidelined for most of the season due to injury. His timely return before the Copa America event has given a big boost to the USA’s chances. He has made 39 appearances for the national team after breaking into the side in 2017 while scoring two goals.
Adams does the defensive work efficiently for the team making timely interceptions and tackles to ease the pressure on the team. He, McKennie, and Reyna have developed an excellent partnership for the team in the middle of the park.
4. Folarin Balogun
The Monaco striker had a good season as he helped them finish second in the Ligue1. He finished the season with 8 goals and 5 assists across all competitions. Balogun has emerged as one of the best forwards in the French league after a fantastic last season with Reims where he scored 22 goals making himself one of the most in-demand forwards.
Balogun made his debut for the national team in June 2023 after changing his alliance from England to the USA. He has made 12 appearances for them scoring 3 goals.
3. Giovanni Reyna
Giovanni Reyna has thrived under the guidance of Gregg Berhalter, who has brought out the best in him for the national team. Reyna had an outstanding performance in the Concacaf Nations League, playing pivotal roles in both the semifinal and final.
Despite a challenging club season—struggling to make an impact at Borussia Dortmund and enduring a tough loan spell at Nottingham Forest—Reyna remains a key player for the USA. He boasts an impressive record with the national team, scoring 8 goals in 28 appearances.
2. Weston McKennie
Weston McKennie has endured a mixed season with Juventus this term after failing to score a single goal for them. However, he has done well in terms of creating chances for the team after providing 10 assists. He has been a crucial player for the team as he brings creativity and his power pack defending to the team.
Mckennie made his breakthrough in the national team in 2017 and has since gone on to make 53 appearances scoring 11 goals. Now, he has the chance to lead his nation to their maiden Copa America title.
1. Christian Pulisic
Christian Pulisic is one of the most crucial players in the squad who has been leading the USA team over the years with his impressive performances. He helped the national team to win the Concacaf Nations League for the third consecutive time against Mexico in the final.
USA being the host of the Copa America, there will be plenty of eyes on him to see how he leads the team to the finals. This season has been great for him after he made the switch to AC Milan where he played 36 matches scoring 12 goals and assisting another 8.
