VfB Stuttgart predicted lineup for Bundesliga 2024-25 season
Die Schwaben will be looking to repeat last season’s success.
VfB Stuttgart had an outstanding 2023-24 Bundesliga campaign. The team finished as runner-up to Bayer Leverkusen. Sebastian Hoeness has done an excellent job of making Die Schwaben one of the exciting teams in the Bundesliga who are known for their brilliant attacking display.
The team is set to make their debut in the UEFA Champions League this season after automatically qualifying with a second-place finish. Hoeness has a difficult task this season after some of the key players moved to other clubs. Nevertheless, they have also made some excellent additions to the side who are in line to play an important role for the team this season.
Let’s take a look at VfB Stuttgart’s predicted lineup that can create havoc in the Bundesliga 2024-25 season:
VfB Stuttgart predicted lineup (Formation: 4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper: Alexander Nubel
Alexander Nubel played a pivotal role in Stuttgart’s second-place finish last season. He managed to keep 11 clean sheets for the team. This was after facing a staggering 107 shots on target. Nubel managed to save 76 shots maintaining a 67.9% save percentage.
Stuttgart signed him from Bayern Munich on loan. Bayern see him as a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer in goal. He has already drawn comparisons with him due to their similar style as he often acts as a sweeper keeper when required.
Right-back: Pascal Stenzel
Pascal Stenzel is an attacking-minded right-back who played a major part in Die Schwaben’s second-placed finish in the Bundesliga 2023-24 season. He notched up seven assists for the team during this run, linking up brilliantly with Enzo Millot and Silas Katompa Mvumpa from the right-hand side. Stenzel is an experienced campaigner who is set to play his sixth season at the club. He also helps the team in set-pieces as he brings excellent aerial presence into the side.
Centre-back: Anthony Rouault
The Former Toulouse defender has a brilliant chance to claim the centre-back position after the departure of last season’s successful pair Waldemar Anton and Hiroki Ito to Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively. Anthony Rouault made 22 appearances for the team last season with only 11 coming from the start. Despite this, he made a tallying contribution racking up 58 recoveries, eight interceptions and winning 57.1% of his tackles.
Centre-back: Jeff Chabot
Jeff Chabot is a wonderful left-footed defender who brings excellent qualities to the side. He was one of the outstanding defenders last term. He made significant contributions to FC Koln which caught the eye of his new employers, who moved quickly to secure his services.
Last season, he racked up some impressive numbers for Koln which included 149 ball recoveries and 45 interceptions. The player won 42 tackles maintaining a 71.2% tackles success rate.
Left-back: Maximilian Mittelstadt
Maximilian Mittelstadt has enjoyed rapid growth in his career after establishing himself as a regular for Germany’s national football team and Stuttgart on the back of a successful campaign. Mittelstadt is known for his tenacious industry from the left-hand side of the pitch. He possesses an excellent burst of pace and the ability to deliver some pinpoint crosses in the box. Last season, Mittelstadt contributed massively to the team by notching up two goals and five assists from 34 appearances.
Central Midfielder: Angelo Stiller
Angelo Stiller is set to keep his place in the team for the new season after enjoying a stellar campaign last season. He appeared 32 times for the team scoring one goal and assisting another five. Stiller is an excellent passer of the ball who helps control the tempo of the game.
He is also good at setting up chances for his attacker. Last season with his vision and creative thinking, Stiller created 53 chances for the team and also delivered 24 successful crosses.
Central Midfielder: Atakan Karazor
Atakan Karazor plays the defensive midfielder role between the two in the team. He doesn’t shy away from making challenges and breaking up the opposition’s play through his constant pressure. Last season, he made an astonishing 174 ball recoveries while also winning 44 tackles.
Karazor also made 27 interceptions last term while making seven crucial blocks by putting his body on the line. He is equally good in the attacking phase also, delivering four assists for his teammates last term.
Right-wing: Silas Katompa Mvumpa
The DR Congo international had an outstanding campaign last term. He helped the team achieve a historic second-place team in the Bundesliga 2023-24 season. Silas scored seven goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
He was a menace for opposition defenders throughout the season. They found him difficult to stop due to his explosive pace and ability to take on defenders using his dribbling skills. The Stuttgart right winger also brings physicality to the side often dragging opponents with his physicality.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Enzo Millot
Enzo Millot is an outstanding talent who burst onto the scene last season. He scored six goals for the team and made another seven assists despite being 21 years old at that time. Millot has a wonderful left foot as he can score some wonderful curlers from the right-hand side.
He is a calm and composed player who possesses excellent ball distribution and is equally good at linking up play. Enzo Millot will be raring to make an impact for the team after winning the silver medal with France in the Paris 2024 Olympics in the summer.
Left-wing: Chris Führich
Chris Führich has emerged as one of the best wingers in the division after enjoying great success from the left-hand side for the team. His ability to drag defenders inside out with his trickery and burst of pace saw him score nine goals last term while also providing another seven assists. Last season, Führich made 51.8% of dribbles successfully while also racking up 53 chances created and delivering 23 successful crosses. He is set for a starting berth after delivering some eye-catching displays last season
Striker: Deniz Undav
Deniz Undav had an outstanding 2023-24 season with the team after arriving in a season-long spell from Brighton. He made an instant impact with the team after scoring an impressive 19 goals while also laying on another nine assists. Undav thrived under the management of Sebastian Hoeness who managed to bring out the best of him. Undav’s marauding late runs in the box saw him convert many chances.
