Viktor Gyokeres impressed by Arsenal project as Gunners begin negotiations: Report

Manchester United are also keen on signing the Swede.
According to talkSPORT, Viktor Gyokeres is amenable to a summer transfer to Arsenal. After determining that Gyokeres was a more viable alternative than Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, the Gunners are scheduled to begin negotiations with Sporting.
The Arsenal idea is said to have impressed Gyokeres. After joining the Portuguese champions in 2023 in a £16.7 million move from Coventry City, the Swede has been playing brilliantly.
In 93 matches for the Lisbon club, the 26-year-old has scored an incredible 86 goals, including a hat-trick against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League in November.
The striker is the best option to lead Arsenal’s frontline next season, according to manager Mikel Arteta, who is in dire need of offensive potency.
The striker’s most recent performances, including a spectacular panenka penalty in Sporting’s 2-0 victory against Rio Ave in the Portuguese Cup semi-final on Thursday, would have also delighted the Spaniard.
Gyokeres has long been linked to the Gunners, but they are not the only club in the race to sign the most sought-after striker.
Manchester United, who were additionally linked to Gyokeres, may suffer a serious setback as a result of Arsenal’s approach. The striker was a vital member of Ruben Amorim’s Sporting team before the Portuguese coach moved to Old Trafford in November.
For a large portion of the season, Arteta has been missing his key players due to injuries to Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Jesus.
Although Mikel Merino, a midfielder, has performed excellently in attack, the Spanish midfielder has provided an impressive influence playing as a makeshift centre-forward following injuries to Jesus and Havertz.
By making plans early for the upcoming season’s title challenge, the Arsenal manager hopes to avoid losing out on the title for the fourth straight year.
It will be interesting to see how things pan out for Arsenal, as they still have a few matches left to play this season.
