The Brazilian is in talks with the Spanish club over an extension of his deal.
Vinicius Jr hopes that his Real Madrid future will be decided “in the next few days” amid rumours linking him to the Saudi Pro League and PSG.
The Brazilian attacker, who has a deal with the LaLiga giants through 2027, is a key ingredient in the club’s attempts to win the Champions League and LaLiga again.
Despite the contact extension talks stalling, Vinicius is still hopeful that a deal to extend his contract at Real Madrid will be struck shortly, despite exit rumours.
Last year, Vinicius admitted that he felt “less and less like playing” and that he had been the object of racial taunts on multiple occasions. Although there have been hints that he would consider leaving Real Madrid as a result, he has always stated that he wants to stay with the team. He now seems to be planning to stay for a longer period of time.
Vinicius speaking to TNT Sports Brazil following his selection as Man of the Match in Real Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League round of 16 play-off first-leg victory over Manchester City said:
“It’s very exciting to have conversations with Real Madrid about my renewal. I have a contract until 2027, but I’ve always said that I want to continue playing here after so much time and making history.”
“I’ve received the affection of the fans, the president, the coaching staff, all the players. My wish is to be here longer and God willing, in the next few days all the negotiations will be resolved to spend much more time here.”
With a Copa del Rey semi-final, this summer’s Club World Cup, and a possible La Liga–Champions League double on the horizon, Vinicius’ goal to create history with Real is undoubtedly on track. With Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe both playing well, Real Madrid’s front line is now starting to click and a win over Man City was another testament to never write Madrid off.
