Vinicius Jr's reported demands for new Real Madrid contract revealed

The Brazilian and the club are in talks to extend his deal.

According to reports, Vinicius Jr is requesting a massive pay increase to stay at Real Madrid, which would be far greater than what teammate Kylian Mbappe is being paid at this moment.

The Brazilian’s future at the club has remained a hot topic. Los Blancos wants to keep the forward for more years, with his current deal set to expire in 2027. Madrid have started talks with the player’s representatives, and so far, both parties have not reached an amicable decision considering Vinicius’ demand for higher wages.

According to AS, Vinicius Jr. wants a contract close to €20 million (£16.5 million) per year, which is 33% more than the €15 million and €12.4 million he and Mbappe currently receive. According to the same source, negotiations for a new agreement will start again in the summer.

The Saudi Pro League clubs have reportedly expressed interest in Vinicius Jr and are prepared to make an offer of €1 billion (£832.2 million), which will break the past transfer record. However, the 24-year-old has stated that he wants to remain in Madrid, and he is expected to sign a new contract if his salary demands are met.

In a recent interview, the forward dismissed links with Saudi clubs and said:

“Soon the renewal can be finished. I have a contract until 2027. I have a lot of time, we don’t need to do things quickly. Florentino Pérez trusts me and I trust him. I trust everyone at this club. I’m here to do everything for them.”

Vinicius sees his future at the club, and Madrid wants to keep the player despite the arrival of Mbappe. The Brazilian, who was the runner-up in the last Ballon d’Or award, wants to create more history with the club after helping them win two Champions League trophies and scoring in both finals.

Since joining Madrid from Flamengo in 2018, the Brazil international has made 301 appearances, scoring 102 goals and dishing out 76 assists. His contract is set to expire in 2027.
