The forward has landed for the Brazil training camp.
Due to “further medical evaluations” on his damaged right calf, Neymar was unable to participate in Brazil’s first World Cup training session on Wednesday, according to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The goal of the additional examination, according to the CBF medical department, was to precisely diagnose the injury that has kept the forward out of action since May 17, when he last played in Santos’ Brasileirão loss to Coritiba.
Neymar misses first Brazil training session ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026

Rodrigo Lasmar, the head of Brazil’s medical staff, went with Neymar to the clinic where he had an MRI. Neymar arrived at the five-time world champions’ training facility in Teresópolis, outside of Rio de Janeiro, earlier on Wednesday, when he joined the rest of the team.
The 34-year-old’s participation in Brazil’s first warm-up friendly before the World Cup this coming Sunday against Panama in Brasília seems unlikely, pending the results of the final medical exams. On June 5, Brazil will play Egypt in their second warm-up match.
After witnessing Santos defeat Deportivo Cuenca 3-0 in a Copa Sudamericana match at Vila Belmiro on Tuesday, Neymar downplayed worries over his availability for the World Cup. “What problem?” he lashed back when questioned about his injury issue.
Neymar arrived in a helicopter at the Brazil camp
Neymar travelled to Teresópolis by private helicopter in advance of the World Cup, arriving at Brazil’s national team training camp in striking style.
As preparations officially got underway at the renowned Granja Comary training facility, the Brazilian superstar was the sole player to enter in that fashion.
But attention soon turned to the forward’s physical state. The 34-year-old arrived with an injury worry, and it is anticipated that he will have an emergency medical assessment to assess the severity of the issue and determine when he can resume full training.
Which injury has Neymar suffered?
He has picked up a calf injury.
When is Brazil’s first warm-up game?
On Monday, June 1, at 3 am IST.
