The Gunners have emerged as one of the most formidable Premier League teams over the years.
When questioned how the current Arsenal team would perform against one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s best teams, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney gave a humorous response.
The Red Devils team that won both the Champions League and the Premier League in 2008 are remembered as one of the greatest teams in history. Additionally, Wayne Rooney thinks Mikel Arteta’s current team is far inferior to the one he played with.
After defeating Chelsea in the Premier League during the 2007–08 season, United defeated the Blues once more, this time in the Moscow Champions League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the best player in the world at the time, was a blessing to that team. The Portuguese talked about how excellent his team was after winning Europe’s top competition for the first time.
Even though the season is just halfway over, Arsenal lead the Premier League by seven points and have won all seven of their Champions League games thus far, including Tuesday’s thrilling 3-1 victory against Inter Milan. Mikel Arteta is thrilled with his team’s current success, as they also have a chance to win both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup this season.
Wayne Rooney makes his feelings clear on whether 2008’s United side would beat the current Arsenal team
Theo Walcott, an ex-Gunner, asked Wayne Rooney how this north London club would compare to his 2008 United squad before Arsenal defeated Inter.
The 40-year-old only replied: “Yeah, we’d batter them.”
After laughing at his remark, he added: “I think we would.”
When they play United at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Arsenal, who are now seven points ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa in the league, will look to increase their lead.
Was Wayne Rooney part of the 2008 United team?
