Preview: West Ham vs Manchester United Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds | Premier League 2025-26

A massive 21 points separates these two teams in the division.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham host Michael Carrick’s Manchester United at the London Stadium this Tuesday night. The game should be electric. Both teams need the win for very different reasons.

The Hammers are fighting to stay in the Premier League. On the other hand, United are chasing a UEFA Champions League spot. Fans can expect plenty of fire from the opening whistle.

West Ham come into this one with a bit of a spring in their step. They have picked up three wins in their last four games. That run includes a big 2-0 win over Burnley, where Crysencio Summerville found the net for the fifth game in a row.

Axel Disasi looks solid at the back after his debut. Still, the home side must navigate the absence of Jean-Clair Todibo, who is out on suspension.

Manchester United are also in great form. They have won four straight league games after beating Tottenham 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes is still pulling the strings in midfield. He is setting up teammates like Bryan Mbeumo and Kobbie Mainoo with ease.

On the tactical side, Nuno will likely keep things tight to frustrate United. He will want to use Summerville’s pace on the counter-attack.

However, Carrick’s side have a lot of confidence and enough attacking flair to break down even the toughest defence. West Ham are playing for their lives, but United’s quality might just be too much in the end. Expect a tight game, but United should edge it.

Jarrod Bowen remains West Ham United’s primary attacking threat this season. He leads their scoring charts with eight goals in 25 Premier League matches. He does more than just score, though.

Bowen also chipped in with two assists and kept up a solid 7.07 average rating. Interestingly, he has bagged those eight goals from an expected goals (xG) of just 5.76. This shows just how clinical he is when the pressure is on.

Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United)

On the other side, Manchester United lean heavily on the in-form Bryan Mbeumo. He has an impressive 7.28 average rating from only 20 matches. He has actually outdone Bowen with nine goals from a higher xG of 7.20.

Mbeumo is clearly more efficient when he gets a chance in front of the goal. Even though he only has one assist, his ability to find the net makes him a constant threat to any defence.

Match Facts:

  • West Ham United have scored 11 goals in their last five matches.
  • Alphonse Areola is ranked 2nd in saves per match in the competition (3.9).
  • Manchester United average 1.8 goals per match.

Injuries and Team News:

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo is dealing with some big gaps in his defence. Most notably, Jean-Clair Todibo is out on suspension. Meanwhile, a back injury keeps Lukasz Fabianski sidelined until mid-February.

On the other side, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has to cope without three key players. He is without Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount, and long-term absentee Patrick Dorgu for this big game.

Lukasz Fabianski is aiming to get back in the West Ham goal by mid-February. This gives fans hope that he can shake off his back injury right after this game. At the same time, the medical team at Manchester United expects Matthijs de Ligt to be back in full training around mid-February, too.

He has also been dealing with a back problem. Mason Mount faces a longer recovery and remains out until late February. He is nursing a knock that keeps him out of the squad for the next few weeks. The biggest blow is Patrick Dorgu.

He picked up a hamstring injury that keeps him out until mid-April. This means both managers have to get through a busy run of games without some of their best players.

Head-To-Head stats:

Total matches: 157

West Ham United wins: 50

Manchester United wins: 74

Draws: 33

Predicted Starting Lineups:

West Ham United Predicted Starting Lineup (4-4-1-1)

Mads Hermansen; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Axel Disasi, Malick Diouf; Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville; Callum Wilson; Valentin Castellanos.

Manchester United Predicted Starting Lineup (4-2-3-1)

Senne Lammens; Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw; Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo; Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha; Bryan Mbeumo.

Match Prediction:

Manchester United look like the favourites to pick up a huge win at the London Stadium. A lot of this comes down to their great run of form and Bryan Mbeumo’s clinical finishing.

West Ham United will definitely cause problems through Jarrod Bowen. But missing Jean-Clair Todibo seriously weakens their defence against a team that moves the ball this well.

So, expect the visitors to take advantage of those gaps in the backline. They look set to come away with a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Prediction: West Ham United 1-2 Manchester United.
